GRADUATES of Monash University’s architectural programme, comprising the Bachelor of Architectural Design and Master of Architecture degree, will now be eligible to register with the Board of Architects Malaysia as a graduate architect.
The above statement was made by Monash Art Design and Architecture (MADA) dean Prof Shane Murray (pix).
The announcement was akin to the recognition of the university’s architectural programme received from the Board of Architects Malaysia – the nation’s statutory authority responsible for the enforcement of the Architects Act 1967 and all it encompasses.
Architecture at Monash is a design-led course that encourages critical thinking about the future roles of architects. The programme is structured in such a way that it provides an exciting opportunity for staff and students to work together to build a vibrant culture for the school.
The syllabi are in-line with the Bologna model and requires the student to take up a five-year academic programme of which he or she will graduate with a Masters degree. The 10-semester course will see students intensively engage in technology, history and theory, with communications and design accounting for more than half the course content.
“This validation sets the programme apart and offers valuable global opportunities to graduates,” Murray said.
Monash University is the first university in the world to obtain validation in Malaysia for its architecture programme. For more information, log on to the university’s website.
