KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia, through the Social Security Organisation (Socso), will host the International Forum on Disability Management 2016 (IFDM 2016) from Nov 22 to 24.
Its chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said the biennial event was the only global forum dedicated to in-depth discussions of problems, trends and best practices in disability management as a catalyst in addressing issues of disability on a world stage.
He noted that previous hosts included developed countries such as United States in 2010, United Kingdom in 2012 and Australia in 2014.
"This recognition for Malaysia (in hosting the event) can be attributed to Socso's success through our disability management programme," he told a press conference here today.
Mohammed Azman was alluding to Socso's "Return to Work" programme, a proactive approach taken in providing insured persons with injuries or diseases, opportunities to safe and productive work activities as soon as it was medically possible.
To be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the IFDM 2016 will feature presentations by experts on disability management from across the globe, representing fields such as medical, allied health, human resource management and research fraternity.
The forum is themed "Transforming Disability Management". — Bernama
