UTM ranked among Asia's top 100 universities

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) made it to the top 100 of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2016, a ranking of the top 200 universities in Asia.
UTM was placed 70th in the latest rankings list.
Three other Malaysian universities also featured on the list, according to the list published by Times Higher Education.
They are Universiti Putra Malaysia, ranked 121-130, Universiti Sains Malaysia (141-150) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (161-170).
No Malaysian university featured in the top 100 of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2015.
"This new data release shows that Malaysia, along with Thailand and Indonesia, have universities able to stand up to rigorous performance benchmarking against the Times Higher Education's performance indicators," said Times Higher Education rankings editor, Phil Baty.
In the latest survey, the National University of Singapore was in top position while Nanyang Technological University was in joint second place with Peking University.
The top five was rounded out by the University of Hong Kong in fourth place and Tsinghua University in fifth. — Bernama
