BUTTERWORTH: A human resources executive who lost his wife and 18-month-old daughter in an accident involving a trailer could not contain his grief when visited by Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shahbudin Yahaya today.

Mohd Hasnun Ramli, 29, choked back sobs as he said he accepted what happened as fate and wanted to continue with his life.

"I have accepted the tragedy, I have also forgiven the driver of the trailer," he said to reporters and then asked for the interview to be stopped as he appeared visibly overcome by emotion.

He lost his wife, Nurul Syazeila Iryani Suhaimi, 28, and daughter, Hanna Humaira, on June 23 in a 16 vehicle pile up at Km406 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Tanjung Malim, Perak.

Both died at the scene during the 9.30am incident where a trailer on the first lane reportedly veered into the middle lane which crushed the car Nurul Syazeila was in against another trailer.

Other cars rammed headlong into the accident as they were unable to stop in time and added more chaos to an already tragic incident.

Shahbudin meanwhile conveyed his condolences to Mohd Hasnun and other family members who were present.

He urged the public to drive carefully as they "balik kampung" for the Hari Raya festivities.

"Those driving must make sure their vehicles are serviced and in good condition," he added.
