MH17 next-of-kin file civil suit against MAS (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven family members of four Indonesians and three Dutch nationals, who were passengers onboard the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 filed a civil suit against Malaysian Airlines System Berhad (MAS), today.
This after lawyers Datuk Dr.S.Arunan Selvaraj and C.Sudesh Kumar filed the civil suit on their behalf, at the High Court registry.
In addition to seeking damages, the family members are also seeking for reliefs against the defendant, pursuant to the Montreal Convention 1999.
Separately, family members of six crew members and two passengers from the same flight filed a civil suit for breach of contract, negligence and breach of statutory duties.
The civil suit was filed at the High Court registry through lawyer Shailender Bhar.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 flying on July 17, 2014, when it was shot out of the sky by a surface to air missile crashed near Hrabove, a village in the eastern part of Ukraine killing 283 passengers and 15 crews.
