SEREMBAN: Fire broke out at the locomotive of a passenger train while enroute to the Gemas locomotive repair depot early today.

Gemas Fire and Rescue Department operating officer Mazlan Jantan said four firefighters in an engine were deployed to the scene following a distress call at 3.35am.

"The burning engine was at the back of the 16-car train but the front engine and carriages were unaffected.

"The incident occurred about six kilometres from the Gemas depot," he said, adding there were no passengers in the train.

He said firemen took five minutes to put out the blaze. — Bernama
