Umno youth leader, Bersih demonstrator detained for rioting

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained an Umno youth leader and a Bersih 5 demonstrator for rioting in the city centre today.
Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah (pix) of Umno was apprehended at Padang Merbok after he gave a speech in support of the Red Shirts movement while Howard Lee Chuan How was detained at NU Sentral Brickfields for causing a commotion.
Both men are being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 511 of the same Act, a generic provision that covers attempts to commit offences punishable with imprisonment.
They have been taken to the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters.
