Najib receives farewell visit from RMAF chief

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today received a farewell visit from Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAFR) chief, General Datuk Seri Roslan Saad at Perdana Putra Building, here.
Roslan will start his leave and transition training tomorrow before going on compulsory retirement on May 27, next year. Roslan's replacement is expected to be announced at the end of this month.
After the 20-minute meeting with Najib, Roslan told reporters that the prime minister had raised a number of matters on the RMAF and it would be looking into these.
"The prime minister also asked me to take care of myself and I thanked him for giving me the privilege and confidence in helming the RMAF.
"I have worked hard for whatever task given to me. The prime minister always wants the best for RMAF and I thanked him for his concern," he said.
During the farewell call, Roslan also presented Najib with a souvenir of a framed photograph of RMAF aircraft from 1958 to 2016.
Roslan, 58, from Alor Gajah, Melaka was appointed as RMAF chief on Sept 12, 2014.
He was accredited as a pilot officer on Nov 11, 1975. In February 1977, he graduated from basic flight training and then served in the No. 1 and No. 2 Squadron at the Kuala Lumpur RMAF base He flew CL600 and Falcon 900 jets while serving in the RMAF VIP Squadron.
He was then appointed as deputy project manager in the air force, where he flew Casa CN235 jets. He was later promoted to helm the CN235 Squadron.
Roslan had commanded the Subang RMAF base and was made Brigadier General in 2007. He was appointed deputy RMAF chief in November 2010. — Bernama
