Ringgit ends higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended marginally higher against the US dollar today.
At 6pm, the local unit was traded at 4.4370/4400 against the greenback from 4.4370/4440 on last Friday.
Investor interest towards the US dollar has been put on hold in awaiting US President Donald Trump's address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday for indication of economic direction.
A dealer said market players are on their toes, as Trump's first US Congress policy address is anticipated to unveil plans in respect of tax reform and infrastructure spending.
Meanwhile, the local note traded mostly higher against other major currencies.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 3.1544/1588 from 3.1612/1666 on last Friday and versus the yen, declined to 3.9517/9555 from 3.9440/9513.
Vis-a-vis the euro, the ringgit appreciated to 4.6961/7011 from 4.7001/7084 and improved against the British pound to 5.5130/5185 from 5.5622/5719.
