PM Najib conveys condolences to Siti Rahmah's family

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak expressed his condolences to the family of Umno veteran Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim who died from old age today.
"Innalillah. Received the sad news. Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim passed away this morning.
"Condolence to the family. Al-Fatihah," said Najib on his Twitter tonight.
Siti Rahmah, who is an Independence fighter, died at the age of 91 at her daughter's house in Kelana Jaya at 10.55am today.
The body was brought to the Al-Hidayah Mosque for funeral prayer and then buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery at 5.40pm today.
Siti Rahmah was the first woman to donate her jewellery to fund the trip by then Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman to London to obtain the country's independence from the British.
She is survived by four daughters and a son. — Bernama
