24 Policemen, officers watching over 12 PPR in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty-four policemen and officers have been assigned to watch over 12 People's Housing Programme (PPR) areas identified as 'hot spots' here to reduce crime rates in these areas.
Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Mazlan Lazim (pix) said an officer and a policeman would he stationed at each of the PPR scheme involved as liaison officers.
He said the PPR identified as crime and drugs hot spots were the Sri Selangor, Kerinchi, Kondo Rakyat, Sri Pantai, Intan Baiduri, Kampung Baru Air Panas, Seri Johor, Seri Kota, Desa Tun Razak, Pudu Ulu, Salak Selatan and Kampung Muhibbah.
"The chairman and committee of each of these PPR should liaise with the police personnel assigned there on any related problem," he told reporters after launching the 1Aman Week programme at the Sri Selangor PPR, today .
He said the officer and policeman concerned were given three months to reduce crime at the PPR under their watch.
"If there is no change in the situation, they will be replaced by another team. This programme will also be implemented in other PPR to be identified later," he added. — Bernama
