Johor exco member Adam Abdul Hamid sworn in as senator

KUALA LUMPUR: A former Johor state executive councillor, Datuk Adam Abdul Hamid, was sworn in today as a senator.
Adam, 64, who was the state assemblyman for Bandar Tenggara, took his oath of office before Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang at Parliament House.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin proposed Adam for a senatorship at last Thursday's meeting of the state legislative assembly.
Adam, who was the chief reporter at Utusan Melayu Sdn Bhd before entering politics in the 70s, told reporters afterwards that he would serve as a liaison between the state and federal governments on various issues regarding Johor.
"I will honour the trust placed in me to serve as a 'bridge' between the Johor and federal governments by raising the various issues faced by the state government, such as house ownership by the low- and middle-income people," he said.
Adam had served as a Johor state executive councillor in charge of housing and local government as well as works and public amenities. – Bernama
