MALACCA: One hundred and ninety personnel from various agencies under the Malacca State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat have been mobilised to help flood victims here.
Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Malacca director, Lt Col (CD) Effendy Ali said 70 members had been stationed around Jasin, while 120 others were being deployed in Alor Gajah.
He said among agencies involved were the Social Welfare Department, District Health Office and Royal Malaysian Police.
"All the agencies are located in the flood operation offices and are prepared to provide their best services to victims especially in the flood-prone areas of Durian Tunggal in Alor Gajah and Tehel in Jasin.
"Although the flood water in Malacca is receding, the personnel have been tasked to help the victims in cleaning up their homes and premises and delivering food aid," he told Bernama.

Effendy, who is also JPBN Secretariat head said the members were ready to provide immediate assistance, monitor the situation and assist victims should they receive any report of a flood.
He said the committee would work on improving its flood management particularly in the registration of flood victims, updating information on evacuees and in ensuring that sufficient food and clean water were being delivered immediately.
The flood has abated, with closure of the last relief centre in Jasin, at 9am today.
On Monday, about 200 flood victims sought shelter at four relief centres in Alor Gajah and Jasin after heavy rain caused rivers in several areas to overflow.
Among the flood-hit areas were Kampung Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai and Kampung Pulau in Alor Gajah and Kampung Tanjung Laboh and Kampung Parit Lampong in Jasin. — Bernama
