Book Review: Once There Was Magic...

THIS is a new adventure series from Cressida Cowell, the author of How to Train Your Dragon, who also illustrated this book.
The illustrations are not exactly beautiful, in fact, they are actually quite awful-looking, but they probably serve the purpose of firing up the imagination of the young ones.
As the story goes, once there was magic in the dark forests. The wizards, who had magic, live there too. There were witches, who also had magic, but bad magic.
Then, there were the warriors, who were not of magic, and hate everything about magic. They had weapons made of iron, the only thing that magic could not work on. And they were determined to destroy all the magic in the world.
First, they drove the witches into extinction, but they did not stop there. Their next target was the wizards.
This is the story of a wizard boy and a warrior girl who have been brought up to hate each other, but of course, when they meet, their worlds collide and it's adventure time.
The storyline is interesting, and the presence of all kinds of creatures like the Snowcats, the sprites, and the giants, makes for a wonderfully imaginative and creative world for the children.
And if you like this book, there's more to come.
