Chickens take flight as fire ravages farm

PONTIAN: Thousands of chickens flew the coop after a farm here caught fire at 5.35am today. Firemen managed to save 9,000 birds from the fire.
Pekan Nanas Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mahadir Mamat said the chicken processing centre caught fire and a large number of processed chickens were burnt.
However, 10 workers and the live birds at the farm were safe. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
