Court fixes May 12 for mention for case against bodyguard for attempted murder

GEORGE TOWN: The Sessions Courts today fixed May 12 for mention of the case where a former bodyguard faces several charges for murder, attempted murder and of causing hurt.
Sessions Court Judge Norsalha Hamzah fixed the date pending the medical report after the case was brought up.
Ja'afar Halid, 38, is accused of attempted murder against Arivarni Krishnan, 33, Nurul Huda Ab Aziz, 38, and Lee Hong Boon, 32 using a Glock 19.
He was alleged to have committed the offences between 7.15pm and 7.30pm on Dec 1, 2016 at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu.
The cases were prosecuted by DPP Nurul Huda Idris while the accused was represented by Ravi Chandran who was appointed by the National Legal Aid Foundation.
At the court presided by Sessions Court Judge Irwan Suaibon, Ja'afar faces charges of attempted murder against Muhamad Amirul Amin Mohamad Amer, 28, and Puoh Bee Joo, 32, with the same weapon at the same time and place.
Irwan fixed May 12 for mention while the case was prosecuted by DPP Lim Saw Sim.
Ja'afar, dressed in a round neck T-shirt, appeared calm throughout the proceedings and was also brought before Magistrate Khairul Hafizuddin Ramli where he faced a charge of causing hurt to one Lim Boon Leng, 32, at the same date, time and place and Khairul fixed May 12 for mention.
The accused was later brought before Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid where he faces charges of murder against Datuk Ong Teik Kwong, 32, Choi Hon Ming, 32, and Senthil Murugan, 38, at the same time, date and place and mention was fixed for June 23.
