SUBANG JAYA: A hardened drug addict hacked his 5-year-old son to death with a parang at their flat in Puchong Permai here yesterday.
In the 5.45pm incident, the victim who was sleeping in the living room, was hacked three times on the head and right wrist by his 35-year-old father.
Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the man, who was allegedly hallucinating, then placed the boy's body outside of the flat, before locking himself in.
"Police received a distress call at 5.45pm from the public and possibly neighbours, after finding the boy's bloodied remains near the apartment unit on the fourth floor.
"Only the suspect and the victim were at home when the incident took place," he said.
Mohammad Azlin said upon reaching the scene, investigators retrieved a parang, which was found in the flat.
Mohammad Azlin added that the suspect had claimed that "voices" told him to kill his son.
"Preliminary investigation found that the suspect is addicted to ketum juice.
"A drug test was conducted subsequently and he was tested positive for methamphetamine. The suspect also possesses a criminal record for a drug-related offence," added Mohammad Azlin.
Police consider the case, which has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code, as 'solved' and the suspect will be remanded at the Petaling Jaya court today.
The victim's body was sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
