EC denies Muhyiddin's original name will be printed on Pagoh P143 ballot papers

PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has denied an allegation by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the commission will use his real name, Mahiaddin in the 14th general election (GE14) ballot papers for Pagoh (P143) parliamentary constituency.
In a statement today, EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said that the name to be printed on the ballot papers is as stated in column 3 of Forms 4 and 4A which the EC had received, which is Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"A check on the EC website and My SPR Semak application also revealed that the name shown is Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and it is only in the electoral register that the name is listed as per his identity card," he said.
On Muhyiddin's name in the GE13 results, he said the EC had explained that the name of the winners in the election when their names were gazetted in Form 16 would follow their full or real names and not that as listed in the ballot papers.
"The EC hopes that with this explanation, everyone is clear on the situation," he said. — Bernama
