FAM has own plans to strengthen finance: Khairy

PETALING JAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin believes the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has its own plans to settle its financial problems.
According to Khairy, FAM under the leadership of Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim would have its own ways to strengthen the association's financial position.
This follows the possibility that FAM would lose RM34 million if it loses two court cases following the signing of agreements which did not favour the governing body by the former Executive Council (Exco).
"I believe the FAM conducted auditing and has its own plans to strengthen its financial position," he said after participating in a charity walk " 'The Rock Walk' 2017 at Evolve Concept Mall, Ara Damansara, here today.
The local media had reported that Tunku Ismail expressed his disappointment after finding out the former exco had entered into an agreement which favoured the other party and put FAM in a difficult position.
Meanwhile, former FAM vice-president Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar called on the FAM to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) on the matter.
Former FAM deputy president Datuk Seri Ridzuan Sheikh Ahmad wants the new FAM leadership to take the failure of the former exco as a lesson and to be more careful when signing agreements.
Ridzuan said the former exco involved in the one-sided agreement should be responsible and and they should come forward to explain the agreement. — Bernama
