Langkawi police detain 28, seize drugs worth RM121,800

LANGKAWI: Langkawi police scored their biggest drug haul for this year with the seizure of various types of drugs, weighing almost 3kg and estimated to be worth RM121,800, following the arrest of 28 individuals.
Langkawi district police chief Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said 2.4kg of substance believed to be heroin was seized from one of the suspects.
"The 46-year-old man has a criminal record for drug-related offence," he told reporters here.
He said cash amounting to RM5,250, believed to be the proceeds from the drug sales, was also seized from the suspect when he was arrested at his house in Taman Desa Kemboja here earlier today and case was investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Six other suspects, namely five men and a woman, were also detained under the same act following the seizure of 523g of heroin, 0.23g of syabu and RM500 cash, he said.
In the three-day operations led by Langkawi Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department head ASP Lali Mohamed Tamin that ended today, another 21 suspects have also been detained for various offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
