PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has congratulated Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull on his appointment as its new chief commissioner.
In a statement issued today, the MACC said all the staff welcomed Mohd Shukri's appointment.
"The MACC feels he will be able to fulfill the trust, responsibility and hope the people have in ensuring that the nation is free of corruption and abuse of power," it said.
Mohd Shukri served the MACC for 32 years before opting for early retirement on July 31, 2016, from his last post as its deputy chief commissioner (operations).
Yesterday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad named Mohd Shukri as the new MACC chief commissioner.
Mohd Shukri takes over from Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, who opted to have his contract with the MACC terminated, and reported for duty back at the Attorney-General's Chambers last Tuesday. — Bernama
