Malacca UTC records over 12m visits since 2012

MALACCA: The Malacca Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) recorded more than 12.79 million visits by people using its various facilities from the time it began operating in June 2012 to June this year, said its manager Siti Aisyah Mahmood.
The nine-storey building located at Jalan Hang Tuah here now houses 49 government and private agencies, operating from 8.30am until 10pm each day.
Siti Aisyah told Bernama the three most popular services at the UTC were those provided by the Road Transport Department (licence renewal), the National Registration Department (replacement of identity cards) and Immigration Department (passport renewal).
The services at the UTC, she said, were under 10 clusters, namely welfare and community development; education, training and employment; business and entrepreneurial development; health; finance; government; youth development; non-governmental organisations, utilities, and security.
"On the average, this UTC receives more than 200,000 visits a month from people dealing with government and private agencies, and it is clearly a one-stop centre which is a choice location to settle various matters," she said.
Siti Aisyah said the many services provided by the UTC under one roof made it easy for the public to attend to their matters in a short time.
Previously, she said, it was difficult for the public to deal with government agencies because they were scattered in various locations, but now they could settle different matters in one building, all in one day.
She said the 18 UTCs in the country were evidence of the government's efforts to ensure a high quality of life in urban and rural areas in line with the government's aspirations to make Malaysia a developed country by 2020. — Bernama
