SITIAWAN: A man's tactic of hiding tools in his skull cap for his daily dose of drugs was quickly sniffed out when he was arrested during a raid conducted by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) at a house in Lekir here yesterday.
The 28-year-old man had tried to find an excuse to get to the mosque for Zohor prayers to avoid being given a full examination, but he was arrested at about 2pm, said Manjung AARK officer Sharudin Abdul Salam.
Being a drug addict for about two years, the man had cleverly concealed his tools – scissors and a bottle – under his skull cap.
Sharudin said the results of the initial urine screening test had shown positive traces of methamphetamine drugs.
He said the police also detained seven other individuals, aged between 18 and 37, who were believed to be drug addicts at eight different locations in Lekir, Sitiawan and Pantai Remis.
"They will be investigated under Section 3 (1) of the Drug Drug Act (APD) 1983 for further action," he said.
Sharudin said the raid carried out by a seven-man team from 8am to 4pm was conducted following a tip-off from the public and its own intelligence. — Bernama
