Nine houses damaged by storm in Bagan Serai

BAGAN SERAI: Nine houses Kampung Parit 1, 2 and 3, were badly damaged with their roofs blown off during a storm yesterday.
Head of Kampung Parit 2, Ridzuan Jamaludin, 47, said the incident occurred at 4.20 pm.
"Luckily, no loss of life was reported," he told reporters after accompanying Bagan Serai Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali who visited the victims today.
Meanwhile, Noor Azmi said an allocation of RM50,000 had been set aside to repair the nine affected houses and to present some cash aid and bags of rice to the victims.
"We are concerned of their losses and we are ready to help reduce their burdens," he said.
A resident Peah Osman, 86, said she was sleeping as she was not well when the mishap occurred.
"I was awakened by the sound of strong winds and soon after, the roof of my house was blown away. I had just replaced the roof a few months ago," she said. — Bernama
