Penang Heritage Walk raises RM500,000 for charitable organisations

GEORGE TOWN: The Federation of Malaysia Manufacturer (FMM) Penang and OCBC Bank managed to raise RM500,000 for 23 charitable organisations through the 2018 Heritage Walk.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said RM100,000 of the amount raised would be channelled to the Penang Future Foundation, which was set up by the State Government to provide financial assistance to the underprivileged students .
"This will help more eligible students from Penang to further their studies," he said during the prize giving ceremony of the 5km walk along Beach Street here today.
Earlier, Chow also congratulated the FMM Penang's initiative to incorporate the "Plog Clean" programme into this Heritage Walk.
The walk attracted approximately 3,500 participants. — Bernama
