PEKAN: The police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will screen those whose names have been proposed to receive the Pahang state awards and medals, said the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
He said this would be a new standard operating procedure (SOP) which must be followed before he gives his consent for the recipient to receive the award.
"A code of ethics will also be drafted which must be observed by them (medal and award recipients) … so it will not be necessary for me to constantly remind them to behave.
"We will also conduct an investigation should an award be annulled if they are found guilty of violating the law."
Tengku Abdullah said this to reporters after the conferment of Pahang state awards and medals in conjunction with the birthday celebration of the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah at Istana Abu Bakar here today.
Meanwhile Pahang Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob reminded all recipients that the awards were the absolute right of the Sultan which cannot be disputed.
"This is not merely a decoration but a conferment of honour which should be treasured ... as such, respect the recognition," he said.
Meanwhile, actor Fizz Fairuz, who was one of the 196 recipients at the investiture ceremony today said, he was aware of the heavy responsibility having been conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) which carries the title Datuk.
Fizz Fairuz or his real name Mohd Fairuz Zainal Abidin, 39, said the award was a tribute for his contribution and involvement in various Pahang tourism and cultural activities. — Bernama
