Ringgit extends losses to open lower against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit extended yesterday's losses to open lower today as most investors shifted their interest towards safe haven currencies, dealers said.
At 9.05am, the local unit was quoted at 4.3300/3340 against the greenback from 4.3260/3290 at 6pm on Thursday.
The ringgit, however, was traded mixed against a basket of other major currencies.
It fell against the Singapore dollar to 3.1082/1122 from 3.1062/1088 on Thursday but strengthened versus the Japanese yen to 3.8921/8971 from yesterday's 3.9203/9244.
The local unit appreciated against the British pound to 5.6078/6134 from 5.6398/6446 but contracted vis-a-vis the euro to 4.8102/8159 from 4.8096/8147 yesterday. – Bernama
