SIME Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) is celebrating the first outing of the new third generation Porsche Cayenne in Malaysia. “This globally successful model is a completely new development and combines even more of the typical Porsche performance with excellent everyday practicality,” says the company.
“The new Cayenne does not only continue its excellent balance of performance and practicality, but expands on it and now offers a wider range of standard equipment. The new Cayenne is now up to 65 kilogrammes lighter thanks to its intelligent lightweight construction. Its powerful turbo engines, new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, new chassis systems and innovative Porsche Advanced Cockpit display and control concept with total connectivity takes both sportiness and comfort to the next level. Despite its steadfast focus on performance and comfort, the new Cayenne remains perfectly suited to off-road use.
“The new Cayenne promises to be more Porsche and more Cayenne than ever. Our primary objective was to further highlight the character of the vehicle. The new Cayenne is now more precise, elegant, athletic and expressive. The Cayenne has also been digitalised and networked throughout by providing another level of digital connectivity to the cockpit. This includes versatility, quality and new cutting-edge driver assistance systems that offer both driver and passengers extraordinary comfort. This is how the Cayenne makes the Porsche experience even more fascinating but remains as a genuine sports car for five,” said Sime Darby Auto Performance CEO, Arnt Bayer.
The new Cayenne is available in two variants: The Cayenne’s 340hp, three-litre turbo engine delivers 40hp more than the previous model. The 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine in the Cayenne S, which reaches speeds of up to 265 km/h, brings it up to 440hp – an increase of 20hp. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the new Cayenne S accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than five seconds.
The new Cayenne is based heavily on the iconic 911 sports car: For the first time, the SUV features mixed tyres and rear-axle steering. In addition, its on-road capabilities are further improved by active all-wheel drive as standard, Porsche 4D Chassis Control, three-chamber air suspension, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electronic roll stabilisation system, and the newly developed high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB).
A spokesperson for SDAP said there is no pricing for the Cayennes as of now because it was just apreview. “The prices will be announced when we launch it later.”
