PUTRAJAYA: The one-day Socso's Job Carnival & Career Counselling 2017 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here today has drawn the participation of 30 major employers with more than 3,500 job opportunities.
Organised by Social Security Organisation (Socso) in conjunction with the Human Capital Psychology Conference, the carnival was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Socso in a statement said among the employers involved were IJM Highway, Aegis BPO, Uda Holdings, Puspakom, Econsave, QSR Brands, Ranhill and Plus Malaysia.
"They are offering employment opportunities to Socso's Return to Work Programme (RTW) participants, persons with disabilities, retrenched workers and other job seekers," it said.
Socso said the carnival was conducted with a unique approach where the case management element was embedded.
Under this approach, Socso's Case Managers and Job Placement Officers provide individualised support and career counselling for RTW participants which includes advising employers on the strengths and limitations of the participants as well as providing job modification strategies where necessary.
"This methodology also emphasises the monitoring of job seekers until they have decent employment," it said.
Socso's RTW Programme has returned more than 17,100 insured persons with employment injuries or illnesses back to work since its inception in 2007. It has also been accepted as best practices in job placement and employment support.
Countries including Namibia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand have benefited from the transfer of knowledge from Socso Malaysia in the implementation of a successful RTW Programme, the statement said. — Bernama
