Soldier among three men charged with gathering to riot

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men, including a soldier, were charged in the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today for gathering to riot in front of a security guardhouse two weeks ago.
Megat Aminul Azlan Megat Azizan, 30, a soldier, Ahmad Sahir Abdul Malik, 33, a security guard; and Nurul Fitri M.Darwis, 32, an unemployed, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof.
The three accused were charged with eight others still at large under Section 147 of the Penal Code which provides for maximum imprisonment of two years or with a fine or both, upon conviction.
They allegedly committed the offence at the front of the Berembang Flat guardhouse, Ampang Jaya here between 12.05 am and 12.15 am, on Nov 8.
Deputy public prosecutor Raihanah Abdul Razak objected to bail on the grounds that it was a non-bailable offence.
Megat Aminul Azlan, Ahmad Sahir, and Nurul Fitri were not represented.
The court allowed bail of RM3,000 each in one surety and fixed Dec 18 for re-mention. — Bernama
