SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has given his consent to the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) to withdraw the accreditation of the President of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia Organisation (Aswaja) Dr Zamihan Mat Zin to teach and to cancel his membership in the state's Accreditation Committee.
Secretary of the Selangor Council of the Royal Court Hanafisah Jais said the Sultan gave his consent after a discussion with the Council today.
"The decision follows a religious talk Zamihan gave which contained racist, rude and extremely critical words against the Royal Institution.
"In addition, the talk was held at a mosque where religious talks like this should not be held," he said in a statement here today.
He said the withdrawal of the accreditation and the cancellation of Zamihan's membership was in line with Regulation 4 of Regulation 17, Accreditation Regulations (Selangor State) 2008.

Hanafisah added that Sultan Sharafuddin ordered that all mosque and surau management committees make video recordings of the talks and classes they organised.
He said this was for the purpose of monitoring the contents of the talks which should abide by the Accreditation Regulations (Selangor State) 2008 and the Mosque and Surau Regulations (Selangor State) 2017.
He added that the Sultan also ordered that the use of loudspeakers for talks and classes in the state be limited to the premises of the mosque and surau except for the azan and recitals of the Quran. — Bernama
