Victims of fraud, cheat urged to lodge police report

PUTRAJAYA: Members of the public who have received telephone calls from a caller claiming to be a policemen from the Putrajaya police headquarters and were asked to bank in a certain amount of money to settle their traffic summonses are advised to contact the police as soon as possible.
Putrajaya district police chief ACP Rosly Hassan said a report had to be lodged before the police could open an investigation paper on the case.
He said that of late, the police received about 200 calls daily from members of the public to ask whether their vehicles were issued with any traffic summonses, claiming that they received a call from someone from the Putrajaya police station seeking for some payment to be made to a bank account to settle the matter.
Police could not trace the bank account since there is no report lodged, he said today. — Bernama
