A MAN who came under fire for "molesting" Shell's 'Mineral Water Girl' has apologised for his inappropriate actions.
Shahril Azmi Abdul Shukor took to Facebook to address the issue, admitting that he may have gone overboard with his "stupid joke". A photo of Shahril kissing the life-size poster of Shell staff Nor Shafila Khairusalleh went viral on social media recently.
According to Shahril, the photo was taken by his friends and shared in a private Whatsapp group as a joke, but it ended up on social media.
"I also wish to apologise to her husband and family members over this incident," he said in a video. He also apologised to Shell, which has since announced that it will be taking down the posters.
Nor Shafila, 25, became an overnight sensation as the life-sized promotional standee at Shell stations nationwide. Various suggestive shots taken with Shafila's poster have been making its rounds online, with some men even appearing to grope her private parts.
Shafila has admitted to feeling harassed by their distasteful actions. Netizens have similarly expressed outrage over the offensive photos.
