Malaysia dan 12 negara lain diiktiraf secara rasmi sebagai negara rakan BRICS

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia kini diiktiraf sebagai satu daripada 13 negara rakan yang ditambah secara rasmi dalam BRICS, sebuah blok yang secara kolektif menyumbang satu per lima kepada perdagangan global.

Menurut kemas kini oleh @BRICSInfo menerusi platform media sosial X, blok itu secara rasmi menambah 13 negara baharu kepada pakatan itu sebagai negara rakan, walaupun belum lagi sebagai ahli penuh.

Selain Malaysia, 12 negara lain ialah Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Thailand, Turki, Uganda, Uzbekistan dan Vietnam.

Sebagai rekod, pada 28 Julai lepas, Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mengesahkan Malaysia telah mengemukakan permohonan kepada Rusia untuk menyertai pertubuhan antara kerajaan BRICS.

Rusia kini mempengerusikan blok itu, yang turut merangkumi Brazil, India, China dan Afrika Selatan.

Pada 18 Jun lepas, Anwar mengesahkan hasrat Malaysia untuk menyertai BRICS semasa perbincangan dengan Presiden Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

BRICS, asalnya merangkumi Brazil, Rusia, India dan China ditubuhkan pada 2009 sebagai platform kerjasama untuk ekonomi yang sedang pesat membangun.

Afrika Selatan menyertainya pada 2010.

Blok itu telah berkembang dengan meliputi Iran, Mesir, Ethiopia, dan Emiriah Arab Bersatu.

BRICS mewakili kira-kira 40 peratus daripada populasi global dan menyumbang Keluaran Dalam Negara Kasar (KDNK) terkumpul US$26.6 trilion atau 26.2 peratus kepada KDNK dunia, hampir menyamai kekukuhan ekonomi Kumpulan Tujuh (G7). (US$1=RM4.34).

G7 ialah kumpulan tidak rasmi tujuh daripada ekonomi maju dunia merangkumi Kanada, Perancis, Jerman, Itali, Jepun, United Kingdom, Amerika Syarikat, serta Kesatuan Eropah.

Menteri Ekonomi Rafizi Ramli dijadual menyampaikan Kenyataan Negara pada Sidang Kemuncak BRICS Outreach/BRICS Plus di Kazan, Rusia, pada 24 Okt, 2024.
