Cape EMS subsidiary champions Malaysia’s clean energy shift with industry leaders at Micci event

The Sun Biz

KUALA LUMPUR: Cape EMS Bhd’s subsidiary, Cape Renewables Sdn Bhd, recently hosted an exclusive industry sharing session at the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Micci).

The event convened industry leaders, energy professionals, and technology partners to explore emerging opportunities in battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar components, and electric-vehicle (EV) charging solutions — pivotal technologies supporting Malaysia’s transition toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy.

The session began with welcome remarks by Cape Renewables managing director Barry Lim, followed by opening remarks from Micci president and group CEO of Cape EMS Christina Tee.

Tee underscored the importance of fostering green innovation to power Malaysia’s sustainable economic growth.

The keynote address was delivered by the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies’ honorary president and CEO of LH Plus Sdn. Bhd Callum Chen.

He highlighted the role of digitalisation and energy storage in optimising industrial energy demand and enabling long-term cost efficiency.

During the session, Cape EMS vice president Piotr, introduced the group’s global BESS partner, Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co Ltd, a BloombergNEF Tier 1 battery manufacturer.

He presented Sermatec’s product range and discussed how BESS technology can improve grid stability, reduce maximum demand for industrial users, and ensure efficient utilisation of renewable power.

The second technical presentation was delivered by Gnetek sales manager Hayden Qi, a leading manufacturer of solar optimisers and rapid shutdown devices (RSD).

He shared how optimisers and RSD technology — first pioneered by Gnetek in 2018 — enhance solar panel efficiency, reduce fire risk, and increase overall system safety.

In the final segment, Cape Renewables conducted a sharing session on AC EV chargers for residential and commercial use, addressing Malaysia’s rapidly growing EV adoption and the need for accessible charging infrastructure.

Recently, Cape EMS reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its smart infrastructure and renewable-energy initiative in Perak, following speculation triggered by the sharp decline in Perak Transit Bhd’s share price.

The electronic-manufacturing-services (EMS) and engineering-solutions group clarified that its collaboration with Perak Transit is strictly confined to the jointly announced project to roll out smart bus-stop systems and an electric-vehicle (EV) hub in Ipoh — a move aligned with Malaysia’s push towards sustainable mobility and a clean-energy transition.

Cape EMS emphasised that the slump in Perak Transit’s share price does not affect its financial standing, operational capacity, or project execution capability.

The company reiterated that it holds no direct or indirect equity in Perak Transit, nor has it engaged in any share dealings with the transport terminal operator.

Under the agreement, Cape EMS’s role is clearly defined as engineering, design, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning of infrastructure and systems under its scope. The company emphasises that it remains financially and operationally independent, supported by a solid balance sheet and sustainable cash flow.
