Malaysia’s economy grows 5.2% in Q3 2025, exceeding projections

Malaysia’s GDP expanded 5.2% in Q3 2025, surpassing the 4.8% forecast, driven by strong construction and services sector performance

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s economy demonstrated robust growth with a 5.2% expansion in the third quarter of 2025, exceeding previous projections and indicating positive economic momentum.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the economy is “on the right track” following the stronger-than-expected performance.

The MADANI Government spokesperson revealed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the results during today’s Cabinet meeting.

Construction and services sectors led the growth with impressive performances of nearly 12% and 9% respectively.

“This has exceeded what we considered the previous ‘best case projection’ of 4.8%,” Fahmi stated during his weekly press conference.

He emphasized that while preliminary figures were previously announced, today’s confirmation solidifies the positive economic trajectory.

The growth figure represents a significant improvement from the 4.4% expansion recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

Bank Negara Malaysia attributed the stronger performance to higher domestic demand and export growth.

Fahmi concluded that the data proves “our country’s economy is in a good position” and continues to record “quite good growth.” – Bernama
