Malaysia’s Q4 2025 GDP projected to show positive growth

Economy Minister expects positive Q4 2025 GDP growth, highlighting strong economic footing amid preparations for global challenges in 2026.

JOHOR BAHRU: Malaysia’s gross domestic product for the fourth quarter of 2025 is projected to show positive growth.

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the expected performance is proof that the country’s economy remains on a strong footing.

He stated the government must continue to be prepared and committed to addressing any economic complexities.

“We must stay committed and ensure that we are not exposed to any external geopolitical developments, as 2026 is expected to be a challenging year globally,” he told reporters.

Akmal Nasrullah said the government must also be prepared for economic uncertainties arising from geopolitical developments, including conflict between Iran and the United States.

The government would strive to ensure the economy continues to be strengthened to mitigate any direct or sudden impact from such uncertainties.

“We need to ensure that our efforts are not only focused on attracting investments,” he said.

He added that the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan must also be carried out with precision and in accordance with its planning.

This precision, he said, reflects good governance.
