“He casually walked off with the food” – Food thief caught on CCTV

A TikTok shows an older man stealing food while unattended, prompting discussion on staff presence, surveillance, and delivery rider risks.

A TikTok clip went viral after a CCTV clip captured an older man casually stealing food from a restaurant counter.

User nasilemak.90an wrote: “If you want the food, just ask the staff. Don’t steal.”

The 11-seconds footage shows an older man in a green shirt approach the counter while no cashier is present.

He simply picks up the food and walks off.

Later, a man, presumably a food delivery worker, arrives to collect the order, only to find it missing as he and the cashier, now present, try to locate it.

A user ayumi.aziz shared a similar experience in the comment: “I bought from Zus for pickup. The barista said it was already taken. I showed my order and said it wasn’t picked up yet. Even with staff present, it’s easy to get tricked if the previous customer didn’t show their order number.”

Threads users reacted strongly to the post.

captain brunette commented, “The counter must always have staff. Leaving it unattended, even briefly, isn’t acceptable. Someone should cover breaks or prayers.”

PandaBear wrote, “The uncle just took it so calmly.” while E suggested, “Next, there must be a CCTV facing the customers as well.”

Other users questioned management and protocol.

Qismina asked, “Where was the counter staff at the time?” JavaChipp noted, “Luckily there’s CCTV, otherwise the rider could have been blamed.” Dream asked, “Has this been reported to the police yet?”

Some reflected on how theft has become common.

“Even if CCTV is installed, police coverage is limited. The counter should be kept within six feet of view for safety.” Moody added.

Many users pointed out the severity of having staff presence and surveillance in preventing petty theft.

The incident also demonstrates the daily risks delivery riders face, and that any minor oversights can quickly become public discussion, let alone escalate into a crime.
