Malaysian allegedly finds maggot in nasi lemak from popular kopitiam in KL, claims husband fell ill after

The woman shared a short clip of what appears to be a sole maggot at the corner of her half eaten plate of nasi lemak.

A social media post alleging that a Malaysian woman’s husband fell ill after eating nasi lemak in which they claimed to have found a maggot has gone viral.

In a Threads post, the woman claimed her husband developed a fever after dining at a popular kopitiam in Kuala Lumpur the previous night.

She also shared a short video showing what appeared to be a single maggot in the corner of a half-eaten plate of nasi lemak.

“Because my husband ate here last night, he’s been having a fever ever since! Seriously! You all don’t seem to care at all,” she wrote.

The post quickly drew numerous reactions, with one commenter claiming she had also fallen ill after eating the nasi lemak.

“Was it nasi lemak? I ate nasi lemak too and vomited twice in the afternoon.”

Another user urged the restaurant to improve its food handling and hygiene practices.

“Please educate your foreign staff on proper food handling and kitchen hygiene!”

A third commenter alleged that both she and her husband suffered vomiting and diarrhoea after dining at one of the chain’s outlets. However, she added that they had not encountered any issues at the brand’s other branches.

The restaurant later responded in the comments section, apologising for the customer’s experience and confirming that it had contacted the complainant to gather further information.

“We’ve contacted you to obtain more information so we can conduct a thorough investigation. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will investigate the matter further.”
