A man was charged RM100 for parking 34 minutes at KLIA’s drop-off zone, sparking online debate about proper airport parking rules.
A Malaysian man was shocked after being charged a high sum for just 34 minutes of parking at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA 1).
Taking to TikTok, he alleged that he was charged RM100 for 34 minutes of parking after dropping his mother off at the airport.
Instead of receiving support, netizens criticised the man for allegedly misusing the drop-off zone.

“How can anyone stay at the drop-off point for 34 minutes?” one commenter questioned.
Meanwhile, another user attached an image of the airport’s rule stating a maximum penalty RM100 for vehicles parked at the drop off zone for more than 10 minutes.
Later, the official KLIA account responded to the man’s claim, explaining that the airport’s Vehicle Access Management System is intended to reduce traffic congestion by enforcing time limits.
The airport operator then suggested alternatives such as the T1 Short-Term Car Park, the Long-Term Car Park, and the public waiting area, which is free of charge, while the two car parks offer free parking for the first 15 and 30 minutes respectively.
