PETALING JAYA: A significant announcement came from Nga Kor Ming, Local Government Development Minister, as he revealed his intention to gift a full month’s salary to ministry personnel who clinched top honors at the 2023 Public Sector Perdana Innovation Awards (AIPSA).

In an X post by Nga, he expressed his desire to recognize the remarkable contributions of individuals who had gone the extra mile to excel in their work.

He concluded the post by emphasizing the unity of Malaysia, MADANI, its leaders, and the people.

The Local Government Development Ministry, specifically the Fire and Rescue Department, achieved double success at the 2023 AIPSA event held on Nov 8 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

They secured awards in two categories: the Audio Frequency Intercept System (AFIS) and the Safety and Administration Track category of the 2023 Public Sector Innovation Awards (AInSA).

Their AFIS innovation, an information delivery and early warning system, was acknowledged for its excellence. Additionally, it also triumphed in the Safety and Administration Track category of the 2023 AInSA.

Furthermore, the Local Government Department under the ministry received a 2023 AInSA Award for their Public Sector-centric ePayment gateway known as PBTPay. This innovative gateway was designed to address issues related to service bill payments at local authorities.

Notably, PBTPay has already collected RM540 million in payments and is projected to reach up to RM1 billion by 2025. It is currently in use by 99 local authorities, with plans to expand its reach to Sabah and Sarawak in 2024.
