TAIPING: The performance by the band from the Lumut Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) base mersmerised the hearts and soul of thousands who had thronged the Padang Esplanade in conjunction with the 2023 Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run, here today.
The 68-member band parading their TLDM uniform with pride, continued to entertain those present at the Esplanade with their precision formation and dances as well as putting up a ‘drum line’ performance and ‘fire dragon’ show that added excitement to the occassion.
Warrant Officer 1 Azumie Zainal, the leader of the band said the daredevil performances including the fire-dragon action were not only performed by male officers but such acts also include female officers.
“The uniqueness of our ‘wow factor’ performances like the spit-fire acts showcased by the team that included male and female officers, reflects the brave and disciplined characters of the officers.
“Apart from the daredevil acts, the formations displayed to replicate songs that are played, shows the organised skills and precision delivery of the band members,” he said when met after the run here today.
Azumie said the band has been involved in local and international performances and has taken part in the World Navy and the K-Pop Concerts during their stint in Jeju Island, South Korea which also featured bands from eight other countries, including the United States, Australia, India and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, one of the visitors who watched the performances, Sarimah Zakaria, 40, said she and her four children aged between four and 12, were overwhelmed by the entire performances put up by the band and the daredevil action by the officers.
In conjunction with the run, various activities and performances were lined up since yesterday at Taman Tasik Taiping and Padang Esplanade.
Apart from the band, visitors also witnessed a combat demonstration by the Armed Forces and skydiving performnces by the TLDM.–Bernama
