KUCHING: Investigation papers involving a senior Malaysian Army (TDM) officer in Sarawak, accused of abuse of power and use of force last month, have been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said the police had concluded the investigation into the case and submitted the investigation papers to the AGC.

“Usually, cases involving the military are referred to the Military Court,“ he told reporters after the handover of duties ceremony for Padawan, Matu Daro and Serian district police chiefs.

On March 7, TDM confirmed receiving a report regarding alleged abuse of power and the use of force by its senior officer in Sarawak against another officer.

The TDM headquarters, in a statement, informed that a police report had been lodged by the victim following an incident that allegedly occurred while the victim was undergoing training, and the report had gone viral on social media.

TDM has also set up an internal investigation board to examine the incident and the allegations. The senior officer has been relieved from duty to allow TDM to conduct a transparent and comprehensive investigation.
