GEORGETOWN: Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor has reminded Malaysians not to boycott McDonald’s Malaysia because the company’s management has already provided a valid explanation that they do not contribute to Israel.

Wan Salim also advised members of the public who want to boycott any company or establishment with ties or links to Israel to do so based on clear facts and convincing evidence, rather than hearsay and assumptions.

He asserted, “It must be explained that McDonald’s Malaysia is not part of the list of companies that needs to be boycotted because the company’s management has already provided an explanation.”

Wan Salim had previously advised the Muslim community to show solidarity and sympathy for the suffering of the Palestinian people by boycotting any companies or products associated with Israel.

Nonetheless, he reminded that any boycott movement or action must be based on evidence that is clear and beyond a reasonable doubt, rather than hearsay and assumption, which could lead to others being persecuted and punished.

As per the report by NST, the popular fast food chain McDonald’s Malaysia faced a boycott campaign last Sunday over accusations of money laundering to a third country, leaving its 21,000 employees uncertain and facing a bleak future.
