PETALING JAYA: Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Dr Md Farik Md Rafik has passed away in Pontian Hospital due to a heart attack at around 6am today. He was 43.
He was also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Unity and Social Harmony.
It is learnt that the funeral will take place after zohor prayers, when Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to pay his last respects.
In the last general election, Md Farik beat MCA’s Datuk Wee Jeck Seng and PAS’ Nordin Othman with a majority of 524 votes.
