Thailand’s army says Cambodian forces broke a ceasefire, firing mortars that wounded a soldier in Ubon Ratchathani province.
BANGKOK: Thailand’s army has accused Cambodian forces of violating a ceasefire with a mortar strike on Tuesday.
The army stated that Cambodian troops fired mortar rounds into Thailand’s Ubon Ratchathani province.
One Thai soldier was wounded by shrapnel and evacuated for medical treatment.
“Cambodia has violated the ceasefire,” the Thai army said in a formal statement.
Cambodia has not immediately commented on the alleged border violation.
The truce was agreed on December 27, ending three weeks of military clashes.
Fighting in December had killed dozens and displaced around one million people on both sides.
The decades-old territorial dispute has erupted into military clashes several times in the past year.
