Bersama to contest 15 seats in Johor election, marking first electoral test

Bersama will debut in the upcoming Johor state election, contesting 15 seats as its first major electoral test.

PETALING JAYA: Bersama will make its electoral debut in the upcoming Johor state election, announcing plans to contest 15 seats in what it describes as its first major test on the political stage.

In a statement, the party said it intends to field candidates in Bukit Naning, Mahkota, Tiram, Puteri Wangsa, Johor Jaya, Permas, Larkin, Stulang, Perling, Kempas, Skudai, Kota Iskandar, Bukit Permai, Bukit Batu and Senai.

Bersama said the decision was based on voter profiling and electoral trend analysis conducted over the past six months, as well as assessments of grassroots support, membership strength and local sentiment in the selected constituencies.

The party also cited the suitability of both pioneer and new candidates who have expressed interest in contesting, together with its operational readiness to conduct sustained campaigns in the 15 seats.

It said the names of its candidates will be announced on Friday at 8pm in Johor Bahru during the launch of its “Trak Kancil” campaign initiative. The venue will be announced at a later date.

As part of its election preparations, Bersama has opened registration for election machinery members and polling and counting agents (PACA) through its official website.

The party said applicants are required to register via the “Sertai Kempen” portal, complete one-time password (OTP) verification, submit the necessary Election Commission documents and undergo training.

Bersama also announced the rollout of an integrated campaign system beginning tomorrow, allowing supporters from across the country to participate in campaign activities by selecting assignments based on date, time, location and task type.

The party said it aims to pioneer a modern election campaign model that relies less on large-scale spending and more on voluntary participation from members and supporters nationwide.

According to Bersama, the Johor state election represents more than a contest for seats and political positions.

“The Johor state election is not merely a contest for seats and positions, but an opportunity to cultivate a political culture focused on solving the people’s problems and shaping the future of the nation,” the statement said.
