Suri Narudin’s family suspected the body in the bag was hers from day three, based on her luggage, as police confirm her identity via fingerprints.
REMBAU: The family of Suri Narudin suspected from the outset that a body found in a bag was hers, her nephew said today.
Mizan, 41, said the family had prepared to accept any outcome regarding his 53-year-old aunt, known affectionately as Mak Su.
He thanked police for confirming her identity quickly via DNA analysis, which they were informed of at noon.
“Actually, from the third day itself, we already suspected it,” Mizan said when met at the Rembau Hospital Forensic Medicine Unit.
He said the luggage bag used was indeed Suri’s, so the family was already prepared.
Mizan last communicated with his aunt in October via WhatsApp, when she inquired about his and his father’s well-being.
The family now hopes the person responsible for her murder receives appropriate punishment for the inhumane crime.
“Mak Su was a friendly and happy-go-lucky person,” he said, adding she was never calculative and was deeply trusted.
He said the family is deeply saddened by the loss of such a kind person.
Suri will be buried at the Chembong Islamic Cemetery in Air Hitam, Rembau.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri was present to pay her last respects.
She spent nearly an hour offering support and made a personal contribution to the family.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed the woman’s identity as Suri Narudin.
He said the confirmation was based on a fingerprint examination matching records in the National Registration Department.
The body was found buried behind a house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, last Thursday.
Suri had been reported missing since Dec 8.
