Search for fisherman feared overboard off Labuan coast

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency is searching for a 49-year-old fisherman feared to have fallen into the sea off Tanjung Kubung, Labuan.

LABUAN: A search and rescue operation is underway for a fisherman feared to have fallen overboard off the coast of Labuan.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) launched the operation after a report was received about the incident near Tanjung Kubung.

The missing man has been identified as 49-year-old Malaysian national Rosli Awit.

He is believed to have fallen into the sea at approximately 8.43 am.

The incident was reported to have occurred about 7.8 nautical miles north of Tanjung Kubung.

The crew of the fishing vessel conducted an initial search but failed to locate him.

MMEA deployed its assets to the scene at 12.40 pm to intensify the search.

The operation is being assisted by the Marine Police Force PSC 1 vessel.
