A mother and her two children killed in a Dungun road accident were buried in Setiu as hundreds gathered to pay their final respects.
BANDAR PERMAISURI: The remains of a mother and her two children, who perished in a road accident yesterday, were laid to rest in a common grave this evening.
Nurul Hafizah Shaary, 39, and her children Muhammad Redzuan Arash Mohamad Redzuan, 13, and Nur Radya Athalia, 4, were buried at the Kampung Sungai Tong Muslim Cemetery at 6.15 pm.
Their funeral rites were conducted earlier at Masjid Ar-Ridhwan Sungai Tong following Asar prayers.
More than 200 family members, relatives and friends attended to pay their last respects.
The fatal accident occurred at Kilometre 59 of Jalan Jerangau-Jabor in Felda Jerangau near Dungun at 6 pm yesterday.
Nurul Hafizah, an agent at a water and air filtration company, was driving home with her four children after attending her younger sibling’s wedding.
The Perodua Aruz she was driving reportedly lost control, veered off the road and crashed into a water pipe and an electricity pole.
Two of her other children, Nur Raesha Amanda, 14, and Nur Rakhlis Aral Yn, 9, were injured in the crash.
Both survivors are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
